Windows and Linux installation
A clean system installation with data transfer, drivers and basic protection in place.
A clean installation fixes what cleanup cannot: leftovers from uninstalled software, broken services, and a system that takes a minute and a half to start. Your data is copied first, then put back along with the programs you actually use.
Why a system slows down over time
A system is not ruined by one program. Over the years it collects drivers for printers that are long gone, tools that start with Windows, two antivirus products slowing each other down, and updates that stopped halfway. Each takes a little, and together they make the machine slow to boot and prone to crashing for no clear reason.
Cleanup and tune-up tools rarely help here, because they cannot tell which of those leftovers matters and which does not. Once a system is in that state, a clean install is the shorter road than hunting for the culprit.
How we go about it
Before wiping anything we list the installed programs and licences and copy your user folders, mail and browser bookmarks. Then we check the firmware settings: Windows 11 needs UEFI boot, GPT partitions, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. A machine still running in the old Legacy or CSM mode has to be switched over before installation, otherwise Windows 11 fails its compatibility check.
- we install from an original Microsoft image
- drivers come from the manufacturer's page for that exact model
- data and programs go back according to the list
- if BitLocker is enabled, the recovery key is saved and handed to you
We suggest Linux for older machines that do not meet the Windows 11 requirements and are used for browsing, mail and documents. Distributions such as Linux Mint run well on ten year old hardware.
What you end up with
A computer with a clean system, your files where they were, and only the programs you actually use. Updates are switched on, and day to day work happens in a user account without administrator rights, so a program that tries to install itself has to ask first. The BitLocker recovery key is written down away from the computer, because without it an encrypted disk stays locked after a motherboard replacement.
Common questions
What about the Windows licence?
On most computers the licence is stored in the firmware and the system activates itself after installation. If the licence is tied to a Microsoft account or was bought separately, we check that before wiping anything.
My computer says it does not meet the Windows 11 requirements. What now?
Sometimes it is enough to enable TPM and Secure Boot in the firmware settings. If the processor is not on the supported list, we do not recommend a workaround install on a machine you work on, because Microsoft does not promise updates for those installations.
How much does an installation cost?
It depends on how much data and how many programs need to go back. Once we have seen the computer and the program list, you get a quote.
