Computer and laptop repair

Diagnostics and repair for desktops and laptops, from overheating and black screens to replacing a keyboard or a disk.

A computer rarely fails all at once. First it shuts down under load, then it takes a minute longer to boot, then one morning it shows nothing at all. Each of those steps leaves a trace in the logs, in the disk SMART values and in the temperatures, and those traces say whether the fault is the power supply, the disk, the memory or the system.

What the inspection looks like

The machine is tested exactly as it arrives. Disk SMART values are read, memory is checked, CPU and GPU temperatures are measured under load, and the crash logs are reviewed. Only then does the case come open.

One of three things comes out of that: a repair that makes sense, a repair that costs more than a replacement, or a failing disk, where data rescue comes first and everything else second. Whichever it is, you get it in writing before any work starts.

The faults we see most

  • Shutdowns and slowdowns under load, almost always baked thermal paste and a clogged heatsink
  • A disk that has started to give up, spotted through reallocated sectors in SMART
  • A laptop that will not charge, where the culprit is the adapter, the connector or the battery
  • A keyboard with liquid in it
  • Windows that will not boot after an update or a power cut
  • A machine that works, but is slower today than it was three years ago

When a repair is not worth it

On older laptops a motherboard can cost nearly as much as a used machine of the same class. When that is the case we say so instead of doing the repair anyway. The data is recovered, moved to the new machine, and the old one can be safely signed out of its accounts.

For businesses and holiday rentals

If you have several machines in one place, we look at all of them in one visit: the reception computer, the printer, the network gear. For rentals that means everything is sorted out before the season rather than in August with a guest already in the room.

Common questions

How long does a repair take?

Diagnostics are usually done the same or the next working day. The repair itself depends on the part: what we stock goes in straight away, anything ordered depends on the supplier.

Will I lose my data?

Not in an ordinary repair. When a disk is failing, the data is copied to a healthy medium before anything else is done. If the disk is physically damaged, you hear about it before we continue.

Do you repair phones?

No. We stay with computers, laptops and network equipment, where the experience is real and the parts are known good.

Do you come to us?

For businesses and holiday rentals we come out in Zadar and the surrounding area. A single computer is faster and cheaper to bring in.
